As an artist, I investigate the beautiful and complex shapes that make up the natural world.
I’m a printmaker and I create prints by hand and on a walking press using actual leaves and fish. Gyotaku is the Japanese word for fish printing and I print fish using Japanese techniques of indirect and sumi ink printing.
I’m also a painter and June, 2021 I will return to Yosemite National Park as an artist-in-residence. I spend about half of my time giving workshops connecting people with nature and showing them how easy it is to celebrate the natural world. I hold nature printmaking workshops in the spring and fall at the Smithsonian Associates here in Washington, DC.
I run Swinging Bridge Press and have just published Into the Woods: Families Making Art With Nature. Into the Woods will be available on Amazon as both a paperback and eBook and will be for sale as an Apple eBook beginning June 5, 2020.
